Sanguine Phantom Blade Zero: Location and Stats
Updated
Sanguine Phantom Blade Zero is Soul's default one-handed weapon, and it is available from the start of Chapter 1 with no unlock step. The Fextralife fan wiki lists Damage 227 and Guard Break 119 at weapon level 1, while Game8 and IGN give starting values of 200 damage and 100 Guard Break.

Sanguine Stats
Sanguine Phantom Blade Zero has two pairs of numbers across the guides, and each pair describes a different point. The fan wiki gives the level 1 values, and IGN's weapon list uses the same 227 and 119 pair. Game8 and IGN's Sanguine guide report the starting values of 200 and 100, so read the context before you compare it with another weapon.
The table puts each guide's entries side by side. A dash means that guide does not cover the item.

How to Get Sanguine
There is no separate pickup for Sanguine. Game8 lists it as a starting weapon, and IGN calls it the starting weapon too, so you have it from the beginning.
IGN's weapon list files it under Weeping Creek Valley. Check your inventory in the Character Menu as soon as Chapter 1 begins to confirm it is equipped.
- Start the game as Soul.
- Open the Character Menu when Chapter 1 begins.
- Equip Sanguine, which the guides name as the default main weapon.
How Sanguine Fights
Sanguine's standard combo is five presses of Square. Its Sha-Chi Combo is three presses of Triangle and can start after any swing in the standard combo. With enough Sha-Chi, the Sha-Chi Combo adds damage and more Guard Break, according to Fextralife and IGN.
The Power Surge is Sweeping Blade. Fextralife puts it on L2 and says it costs 1 Sha-Chi Essence, and IGN describes it as a rapid slash that is unblockable. Both guides agree the attack cannot be blocked.
The level-ups add Chi-Infused Blade at level 5, Phantom Execution at level 10, Drifting Clouds at level 15 and Flowing Water at level 25. The table lists the button inputs, and the one timing that differs between guides is the Chi-Infused Blade duration.
Sanguine Reach Is a Separate Weapon
Sanguine Reach is a two-handed long blade that AllThings How places behind the weapon rack at the Outpost in Weeping Creek Valley. Its type differs from the one-handed Sanguine on this page, so do not compare the two sets of numbers as if they were one weapon.
Our Take on the Weapon
Sanguine is the easiest weapon to learn in this set: it is in your hands from the start, its Sweeping Blade is clear to use, and the level 5 and level 10 abilities give you something to aim for. Use the table before judging it by one number, since the guides disagree on the level 1 values.
